Traditional Chinese Veterinary Medicine
Dr. Arledge completed training in acupuncture and Chinese medical principles to meet clients’ growing interest in alternative veterinary therapies. This 130-hour program focused on how to use acupuncture to diagnose and treat a variety of conditions and diseases using seven techniques (dry needle, aqu-acupuncture, electro-acupuncture, gold implantation, laser-acupuncture, hemo-acupuncture and pneumo-acupuncture). The training was provided by the Chi Institute of Traditional Chinese Veterinary Medicine and included hands-on learning in a clinical environment.
Veterinary Orthopedic Manipulation (VOM) is a healing technology that locates areas of your animal’s nervous system which have fallen out of proper communication, (subluxation) and then reestablishes the communication, thus promoting healing. This is important because nerves are responsible for two things, pain and function. When nerves or groups of nerves are not communicating properly with the brain and body, there will be malfunction and/or pain.
VOM is not chiropractic care. VOM was developed specifically for animals via 10+ years of research on more than 35,000 large and small animals. The differences between the two are significant and distinct. VOM has proven to be more comprehensive and easier on the animal, thus more effective.
How does VOM work?
Spinal Injury (with or without symptons) = Neuronal Interference+ Pathological Read
Neuronal Interference + Motion (Force) = Interference Reduced
So, if you put motion into a neurological point that is associated with a pathological read, you reduce the miscommunication which can restore function and reduce pain. VOM delivers the force with a hand held device. It can be used to safely treat acute and non-acute lameness, progressive lameness and back pain among other issues. It is often combined with acupuncture so that the VOM hand held device can stimulate the acupuncture points via accupressure.
