Airy, MD in 1987 to get closer to home and worked at a mixed equine, small animal facility. In 1991 she moved to Powhatan, VA and brought with her experience working with all disciplines of our equine friends including pleasure horses, thoroughbred and standardbred race horses, hunter jumpers, dressage, western, gaited, drafts, and miniature horses. Deer Creek was opened for business in November, 1993.
Dr. Arledge has special interests in equine dentistry, medicine cases, reproduction, and lameness. To compliment her lameness experience as well as the overall health of the horse, Dr. Arledge pursued further training in acupuncture. She attended the Chi Institute for veterinary acupuncture and completed courses in veterinary orthopedic manipulation (VOM). Dr. Arledge enjoys all aspects of veterinary medicine and the combination of her traditional veterinary medical experience along with her eastern medical training give her even more treatment options for her patients.
When not at Deer Creek, Dr. Arledge can be found trail riding her mare ‘Daisy’, gardening, yoga and various outdoor activities. Her favorite spare time activity is to spend time with Fred and her son, Patrick.
Dr. Lenher is a 2002 graduate of Colorado State University College of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Sciences. She grew up in Rhode Island where she competed on the New England Hunter Jumper Circuit and the Morgan horse circuit. She rode dressage as well as hunt seat and when not riding she was working as a veterinary technician at Wickford Veterinary Clinic. Upon graduation in 2002 Dr. Lenher moved to North Carolina where she completed an internship at Southern Pines Equine Associates. Dr. Lenher then moved to Charleston SC where she worked for a full service ambulatory and surgical referral hospital. The case load was extremely varied and any day could involve performance horses, race horses, back yard companions, polo ponies or carriage horses in downtown Charleston. Working in that environment, Dr. Lenher quickly built on the skills she had developed in her internship. She relocated to Virginia in February of 2007 to be closer to family. She joined Deer Creek at that time, bringing with her 5 years of experience in lameness, medicine, and respect for the challenges owners face when their horses are sick or injured.
Dr. Lenher currently resides in Powhatan with her husband, Gary, her son, Trevor, a Maine coon cat (Peanuts), a Sun Conure (Beaker), and a Norwich terrier (Winston). In her spare time she enjoys spending time with family, riding, gardening, yoga, and sports (go New England).
